Alicante Airport to Calpe by Train (Combine Bus – Train)

Alicante airport does not have any train connection whatsoever. The only way to get on a train to Calpe is via Alicante downtown.

Alicante Airport is connected by the C-6 bus route (estimated travel to Alicante:30 minutes) to the different Train-tram and tram routes of Alicante’s TRAM Metropolitano, linking the city centre with towns on the Costa Blanca, including Calpe (estimated travel to Calpe: 121 minutes approx. ,check the website for timetables and prices).

For Calpe you need to take the tram at the station Alicante-Luceros , get the line 1 to Benidorm (72 minutes approx.), change at Benidorm (Timeout 13 minutes approx.) and get the line 9 to Denia, stop in Calpe (85 minutes approx. to arrive to Calpe).

However, be sure to confirm that the direction of the train more or less coincides with your destination. The front of the train, and the platform indicator, will show the ultimate destination of the train.

The tram stops are well signposted and each stop gives information about all the tram destinations.

Although the Tram train is a nice alternative because it offers more chances for sightseeing, I would like to inform you about the principal disadvantages of using this option.

Summary:

• Alicante Airport to Alicante ́s TRAM Metropolitano : 30 minutes by bus connection
• Obviously this is rarely going to be a sensible option given the alternative of the road route, and involves steps and escalators, so if you have baggage or children this might not be practical.
• Alicante ́s TRAM Metropolitano to Benidorm : 75 minutes
• Change at Benidorm (Timeout 13 minutes) and get the line to Calpe (85 minutes)

If your accommodation is a bit away from a Tram station, be sure to find the information on a bus route that takes you to your destination or prepare to call a  taxi .

Travel time at least 4 hours if connections are instant with no waiting for trains to arrive. Sometimes this journey can be significantly longer.

For the savvy conscious tourist however, the relative low cost of the combine Bus-Tram compared with other methods of travel means that they will take the tram for any day-trips, to get around the Costa Blanca area cheaply.

Alicante Airport to Calpe by Road: Bus

Bus Connection:

The ALSA bus company offers you the connecting service between Alicante airport and Calpe. The journey takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes and 2 hours depending if the travel is directly or with stops.

Tickets: You can purchase your ticket online, calling 902 42 22 42, at Alsa’s point of sales, and in the bus itself. The fare is around 9.45 € one-way, per person.

Stops: Located in front of the arrivals and departures zones

Route: You take the Alicante Airport bus to Benidorm to get to Calpe via Benidorm. Change at Benidorm (Timeout 20 minutes) and get the bus to Calpe.

On most routes buses are frequent during normal daytime hours, with them becoming less frequent during afternoon, and no routes from 17:15 till 07:45 hrs.

Also, the budget-conscious will find that the bus offers a cheaper alternative, even if it is a slower journey, although compared to using the tram, this is a much quicker way to get to Calpe from Alicante airport.

The other alternative is to get a bus direct to Calpe via downtown Alicante. The Alicante Airport is connected to Alicante bus station by the C-6 bus route (estimated travel to Alicante:30 minutes, stop is at Calle Pintor Lorenzo Casanova, right beside the bus station).

At the Alicante bus station you can board your bus to Calpe , please check the website for stops in Calpe. The fare is around 7.25 € one-way, per person and the journey takes about 1 hour 40 minutes and 2 hours.

Note that on depending on the location of your accommodation in Calpe, surely you will have to call a taxi to reach it.

Alicante Airport to Calpe by Road: Taxis

Taxi Connection 

The official airport taxi service is assigned to Radio Taxi Elche. They can be identified by a green stripe running the length of the vehicle and the coat of arms of the city of Elche on “the doors.”

Without traffic congestion the fastest transfer can be achieved in around 60 minutes. During peak travel periods and holidays please consider that you may incur in longer distance routes and frequent traffic congestions.

Fares between Alicante Airport and Calpe start from 95,00 € with ordinary rates, and this is just for a standard saloon car (pretty small vehicle) and often there are hidden charges, such as Meet & Greet fees, driver waiting charges and additional car parking fees, etc. so check before booking.
