From Alicante Airport to Calpe by train (Combined Bus + Tram)

There is no direct train service. To go by train you have to go first to Alicante by bus or cab and then by tram to Calpe.

BUS LINE C – 6 Airport – Alicante

Connects the terminal building with the center of Alicante every 20 minutes every day of the year, with stops at the Renfe train station and other strategic points of Alicante. At the stops of Alfonso X El Sabio and Plaza de los Luceros it connects with the TRAM lines 1, 2, 3 and 4 that connects the city center with the towns of the Costa Blanca, including Calpe (estimated trip to Calpe by tram: 121 minutes approximately, check the website for timetables and prices).

To go to Calpe you have to take line 1 to Benidorm (approx. 72 minutes), change at Benidorm (waiting time approx. 13 minutes) and take line 9 to Denia, which stops at Calpe (approx. 85 minutes). Please make sure that the direction of the train matches your destination.

The front of the train and/or the platform indicator will show the final destination of the train.

The streetcar stops are well signposted and each stop gives you information about all streetcar destinations.

Assuming that the streetcar train is a good alternative for sightseeing, it is also important to know the main disadvantages of using this option to get from the airport to Calpe.

From Alicante Airport to Calpe by road: Tram Connection

Please note that this option rarely proves to be a reasonable alternative as it involves going up and down normal or escalators and several paths along the way, so if you have luggage or are traveling with children or elderly people, this is not at all advisable.

From Alicante Airport to Tram Metropolitano in Alicante: 30 minutes

From Tram Metropolitano to Benidorm: 75 minutes

Change in Benidorm (waiting time: 13 minutes) for the Denia line which stops in Calpe (estimated time 85 minutes).

If your accommodation is a bit far from a streetcar station, be sure to find information about a bus route that will take you to your destination or arrange to call a cab once you arrive at Calpe station.

For this trip you need a minimum of 4 hours as long as the connections are instantaneous and there is no additional waiting time until the tram arrives. Sometimes this trip can be too long and tiresome.

The relative low cost of the tram compared to other means of transport will however be a good alternative when the tourist wants to visit the most typical villages of the Costa Blanca.

From Alicante Airport to Calpe by road: Connection by Bus

The bus company Alsa offers you the connection service between Alicante Airport and Calpe. The trip takes approximately between 1 hour and 30 minutes and 2 hours depending on whether the trip is direct or with stops.

Tickets: You can buy your ticket online by calling 902 42 22 42 42, at the Alsa points of sale and on the bus itself. The approximate fare is 9,45 € per way, per person.

Stops: Located in front of the Arrivals and Departures areas.

Route: To get to Calpe, via Benidorm you must take the bus from the airport. Change to Benidorm (waiting time 20 minutes) and take the bus to Calpe.

On most routes buses are frequent during the day, becoming less and less frequent in the evening and there are no routes between 17:15 and 7:45 hrs.

If your budget is tight you will find that the bus offers a cheaper alternative, even if it is a slower trip, but if you compare it to the tram option, it is a much faster and more comfortable way to get to Calpe from the airport.

The other alternative is to take a direct bus to Calpe via Alicante city center.

Alicante Airport is connected to Alicante bus station by bus route C-6 (estimated trip to Alicante: 30 minutes, stop at Calle Pintor Lorenzo Casanova right next to the bus station).

At the Alicante bus station you can catch your bus to Calpe. Please check the website for stops in Calpe. The fare is around 7,25 € per way and person and the trip takes between 1 hour and 40 minutes and 2 hours.

Please note that, depending on the location of your accommodation in Calpe, you will most likely have to call a cab to get to your final destination.

From Alicante Airport to Calpe by road: Taxi Connection

The official airport cab service is provided by the company Radio Taxi Elche. The vehicles have a green stripe running from the front to the back and the coat of arms of the city of Elche on the front doors.

If there is no traffic, the fastest transfer can be achieved in 60 minutes, in high season and bridges note that if the traffic gets very intense you can opt for other types of routes but the total mileage may be higher. Check the route before booking.

Standard pre-booked cab fares between Alicante airport and Calpe start from 95,00€ being this only for a standard saloon car (a relatively small vehicle).
