Altea and Cap Negret: where they are and how far from the airport

One of the Costa Blanca's favourite spots for cyclists looking to spend a few days riding between the sea and the mountains.

Altea is known for its whitewashed old town and the church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo with its blue domes. Around 2 km from the centre, next to the N-332 road, lies Cap Negret, a stretch of coast popular with cyclists who choose Altea as their base for training and exploring the roads of the area.

From Alicante-Elche Airport to Altea it's around 65 km (40 miles). It's a straightforward drive, but with a packed bike and the rest of your luggage, it's worth having it sorted before you land.

How the bike transfer from the airport to Altea works

From booking to dropping your bike at your accommodation, with no changes and a fixed price from the start.

1. Get a price and book

In the booking form, choose Alicante Airport as your pick-up point, Altea as your destination and the Bike transfer type. Tell us how many people and bikes there are and whether they're in a hard case or a bag, and you'll see the price instantly.

2. Receive your confirmation

You'll get an email with all the details of your transfer. If you have any questions, we're available 24/7, including on WhatsApp.

3. We meet you in arrivals

Collect your luggage and your bike, and your driver will be waiting in the arrivals hall with a sign with your name.

4. Arrive in Altea or Cap Negret

A private, direct, door-to-door journey. We drop you at your hotel, villa or apartment with your bikes ready to ride.

The same process works in both directions: you can book your outbound and return journeys in the same form, so we pick you up in Altea at the end of your stay and take you back to the airport.

Your bike

Hard case or bike bag: which vehicle you need

No need to change how you pack your bike for the flight: it travels in the transfer just as it arrived.

Whether your bike travels in a hard case or a bike bag, it comes with you. The only important thing is to let us know when booking, along with the number of bikes and suitcases, so we can assign the right vehicle.

Bringing more than just your bike? In the booking form you can also add cabin bags, checked suitcases, child seats or pets, so the vehicle is ready for everything.
Groups

Transfers for cycling groups and teams

If you're coming as a group to rack up the miles, the easiest option is for everyone and every bike to arrive together in one vehicle.

For groups we have a Minibus with up to 19 seats. As bike capacity depends on the number of people and the luggage, the best thing is to get in touch or message us on WhatsApp at +34 649 422 876 telling us how many of you there are and how many bikes you're bringing, and we'll confirm the best option.

  • One vehicle for the whole group, instead of coordinating several cars or taxis outside the airport.
  • Price per vehicle, not per person, which goes a long way when split across a group.
  • Outbound and return transfers coordinated with your flights.

Other options

What if I don't book a transfer?

There is public transport between the airport and Altea, but it isn't direct and, with a bike, the rules make it much harder: the TRAM d'Alacant only allows non-electric folding bikes, and on Alsa coaches your bike must travel in a bag, not a box, and with a supplement. A taxi or hire car is direct, but you'll need to check beforehand that your packed bike fits alongside the rest of your luggage. That's why, for anyone travelling with their bike, a private transfer is usually the simplest option.

Before you travel

Tips for arrival day and your return

  • Book at least 24 hours in advance, especially in high season, to guarantee availability.
  • Give us your flight number when booking. We'll track your flight and, if it's delayed, adjust the pick-up at no extra cost.
  • Specify the number of bikes and whether they're in a case or a bag, plus your suitcases, so the vehicle is ready.
  • Give us the exact address of your accommodation in Altea or Cap Negret so we can drop you right at the door.
  • Book your return at the same time as your outbound journey and set your pick-up time so you reach the airport 2 hours before your flight departs.
  • Travelling as a group? Message us beforehand with the number of people and bikes to confirm the Minibus.
  • Last-minute change of plans? Message us on WhatsApp at +34 649 422 876 and we'll do our best to help.
